John Bell

John Bell is the founder and CEO of Boxwood Technology. For over 30 years, Mr. Bell has been creating and delivering technology applications for customers, organizations and associations. A lifelong entrepreneur, John began his career in sales and marketing and started his first company at age 24 with the launching of Transportation Management Systems (TMS). In a few short years TMS provided over 600 companies with turn-key business application solutions. Considered by many as a pioneer in the electronic recruitment industry, John anticipated the emergence of the “Internet electronic marketplace” in the early 1990’s. After automating his own staffing firm and implementing its nationwide affiliate network, John had a vision for a software solution to help associations participate in the electronic recruitment industry. His vision became reality with the founding of his 3rd company, Boxwood Technology, in 1998.

Widely viewed as a recruiting expert, John currently serves on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Employment Web Sites (IAEWS) and is a frequent speaker at association, career and recruitment industry events. In addition to speaking on topics such as for-profit competition and member-centric challenges he is known throughout the association community for his “Giving back to the Industry” seminar series focused on generating non-dues revenue and building a successful and competitive career center.
